Education:
  • Bachelors of Arts in Psychology (Minor in Human Development & Family Studies) from University of Missouri - Columbia.
  • Master's of Arts in Professional and School Counseling from Lindenwood University
  • Post Graduate Certificate and additional classes (Theraplay) in Play Therapy from MidAmerica Nazarene University.
  • Post Graduate work through ReadyMinds, to complete Distance Counseling education.

Credentials:

Professionally, Jennie has experience, and enjoys the variety of her family practice; working with children, adolescents, adults and families on a day to day basis.  Jennie's clinical specialties include (but are not limited to) crisis management, childhood/adolescent issues, adults who are struggling with Trauma, new parent stressors and anger management.    She utilizes play therapy working with children and cognitive behavioral techniques working with adolescents and adults.  When working with those who have experienced trauma, she is honored to walk with someone on their path to recovery from their specific trauma. 

Jennie has a passion for helping those involved in the fostercare system (Children, Foster Families, Biological Families) and with those involved in adoption (birth parents, adoptive parents, adoptees).

Jennie is also an internship/practicum site supervisor to graduate interns from various local universities.  Additionally, she has completed the supervisor training offered by the Missouri Committee for Professional Counselors which allows her to supervise provisional therapists for their professional license in the state of Missouri.

As a Registered Play Therapist - Supervisor, Jennie is qualified to offer supervision to school counselors working towards their RPT credentials.  For those not interested in working towards their RPT credentials, she offers consultation services to school counselors in helping with the selection of appropriate toys, and setting up a play room/travel play room as well as consultation on their specific cases. 


Personally, Jennie has a passion for the outdoors  which include camping, hiking, biking on the Katy Trail, and other nature related activities.  She also volunteers with teens in the local community which allows her to stay "in the loop."

Kimberly Elder, M.A., P.L.P.C.

Kimberly has been with Step By Step Counseling since January of 2012. Previously, she was an intern with Creve Couer Counseling Associates.  

Kimberly specializes in working with all aspects of verbal or physical abuse.  She enjoys working with men or women, in helping them form more healthy relationships.    Kimberly has re-occuring groups that she facilitates including recovering from emotionally abusive relationships and the young women's empowerment group.

Additionally, Kimberly specializes in, and enjoys working with the LGBTQ community. She has volunteered with the LGBT community in Saint Louis, Missouri. Kimberly is qualified to work with those individuals who are struggling with gender and identity conflicts.

Eric Hamrick

Eric has a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Luther College, and Masters of Arts in Theology from Luther Seminary. Eric is currently a graduate counseling intern from Lindenwood University; has a 4.0GPA and is in the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society. 

Eric has worked with youth and families for over 25 years.  In his first masters program he completed an internship as a group counselor at an addictions treatment center.  He worked as a crisis counselor and assessment specialist at Golden Valley Health Center and received training in Sexual Addictions from Patrick Carnes PhD.  Eric worked as a Program Coordinator and Program Director for Big Brothers and Big Sisters and has done a great deal of work coaching and mentoring youth and parents. 

Eric is supervised by Lindenwood University and Jennie Wilson.
